Forensic Evidence

As part of our effort to provide the most cutting-edge and comprehensive defense strategies possible, we keep abreast of legal and scientific trends that are essential to the defense of complex criminal cases. Through the use of forensic experts and other knowledgeable professionals, we prepare meticulously for trial to provide an effective defense that will obtain the most positive outcome for our clients.

What is Forensic Evidence?

Examples of forensic evidence may include DNA, fingerprints, blood, semen and bullet casings. Forensic evidence is used by the defense to prove what actually happened in a particular case. Forensic evidence has no bias or interest and is not subject to the motivations of live witnesses to bend the truth to conform to their own interests. Knowledge of forensic evidence is absolutely critical to the successful defense of criminal charges involving violence.

How We Use Forensic Evidence

Over the past three decades, attorney David A. Hill has been vigorously defending the rights of the criminally accused. After handling thousands of criminal cases and hundreds of criminal trials/hearings, Mr. Hill understands the importance of forensic evidence.

To assist in plea negotiations, trial preparation and trial execution, Mr. Hill utilizes top forensic and scientific experts. In a firearms assault case, a ballistics expert may be used to identify the type of firearm used, to determine the bullet path, the angle of the gunshot, the height of an attacker, or other identifying characteristics that may be used in proving an effective defense.

In a sexual assault case, forensic evidence may be utilized to raise doubt as to the identity of the sexual assailant or the use of force. In a DUI/DUII case or drug case, a scientific expert may be utilized to test the characteristics of alleged drug evidence or put into doubt the results of a breathalyzer test.

The facts of every case handled by our firm are viewed through the prism of 30 years of experience that has successfully utilized forensic evidence in the defense of all types of criminal charges. Where any exculpatory fact may be proven through the use of forensic evidence, that evidence will be pursued through forensic expert testimony. We carefully examine the evidence and use forensic experts — where appropriate — to disprove the prosecution's theory of the case. Our goal is to win for our clients.
